City Tour of Schaffhausen with Munot

Schaffhausen und Rheinfall

Description

Discover one of Switzerland’s most beautiful medieval towns on the banks of the Rhine.

On a guided tour of Schaffhausen’s old town, you’ll hear fascinating stories about the All Saints’ Abbey, home to Switzerland’s largest Romanesque cloister. Let yourself be enchanted by the variety of the 171 bay windows in total. Do you know what these bay windows were originally used for? On our tour, you’ll learn more about the town’s most magnificent buildings.

During this old town tour, you’ll also visit the Munot Fortress, which towers high above the old town and offers a wonderful view over the rooftops of Schaffhausen.

The paintings on the Haus zum Ritter are regarded as the most significant Renaissance frescoes north of the Alps. The twelve guild houses also once shaped the city’s development. You’ll learn more about their activities, their significance for Schaffhausen and many other fascinating stories from the city’s history during this tour.
